“I Two Mama” – Logan Sons 1.30.10

My baby turned TWO yesterday. I can hardly believe it. Where did this last year go? I caught myself reflecting more on his birth and his life now, than I did when he turned one. I don’t know why this is, but it made me emotional. Well, not that I actually write those words, it is most likely because I am pregnant and everything makes me emotional these days. I also think it’s because I was so worried I wasn’t going to be able to keep my child alive to his first birthday and was just so relieved when that day finally came.

We didn’t do much for his BIG day. Just hung around the house and then had my parents comes over for some burgers and cake. First thing in the morning I told Logan happy birthday and then got him to say, “ I two mama!”. So anytime he heard Happy Birthday he would say “ Birthday.. I two!”. One big bummer of the day was he woke up sick. I though it was just his sinus’ again so I wasn’t to worried but today he has had a fever and I just had to call the on-call doc for his fever that was 103.0. I can stay pretty level headed most of the time, and my experience from working at the hospital kicks in and I just play it cool. But then there are days like today when I am emotionally and physically drained and so so sooo tired that I find it hard to keep it together and not think the worst.  Luckily the doc told me I was doing everything right and not to worry.  So as I write this tonight, not only am I thankful my kid made it to his FIRST birthday but I am ecstatic I got him to his SECOND birthday. He has brought so much joy into our lives and keeps us on our toes daily. He has no clue what is coming in May with a new little sister, but we hope he will make the smooth transition.

Happy Birthday Logan. Mama and Daddy Love you to pieces!!

The Aftermath

I wish I would have taken pictures yesterday morning before my Dad came over with the tractor and dug us out of our driveway. There was so much snow piled in front of our gate there was NO way I would have ever been able to dig us out. On Saturday I had to dig so that we could at least open the gate to get the tractor in behind the Tahoe and that was hard. Early Saturday morning Logan and I walked to my parents house and I helped dig out the side walks. HOLY COW… There was so much snow, and I haven’t been this sore in a very long time. I forgot what it felt like to use certain muscles. After digger we figured we got between 2-3 feet of snow. MORE than anyone has seen up here in a very long time.

The snow is great… for the first 24 hours and then….. It becomes a huge hassle that you are surrounded by and cannot run from. I normally hate being in the car, and I hate long rides, but yesterday we had to drive to Hollywood to pick up some stuff and I could not have been more thrilled just to be out of the house. While we were in Hollywood we also stopped to see my friend Diana, and I REALLY enjoyed my time with here. We left her house and drove down Hollywood Blvd. because I had never seen it.. O MAN.. It is amazing! We are for sure going back to walk around and people watch.

Anyway.. Back to the snow.. Here are pictures from Saturday Morning. The day after our “Big Storm”.

Storm Watch- January 2010

This is ALL you hear on the news lately. I for one am LOVING this weather and I think people forget that we really need the rain and snow. Of course this could get me started on a whole pet peeve I have with our weather men, but we’ll save that for another day!

It has now been snowing for a good 12 hours today at our house. This is the most we have seen in one day in a very long time. It was nice at first but now we are all getting a little stir crazy. This morning Wes attempted to get my Dad’s tractor and fix our street and our driveway. After working for about 20mins we ran the tractor out of diesel. Running anything out of diesel = No Bueno! Guess who got picked to truck their butt across the snow to find more diesel. ME!!!! As I was walking back with my step mom in the snow I came to the realization that I would not make a good Eskimo, or if I had to be one, I would be much skinner! Walking in that deep snow is hard work! After everything was squared away and we came back home we let Logan play in the snow. This kid is so tuff. His purple hands and red cheeks do not even faze him. When he falls in the snow he just laughs and says “get up.. get up”. And of course he cried when it was time to come in and get warm.  I am still in awe that my little monster is going to be TWO next weekend.. Man o man where did this year go.

ps. I failed to mention that Wes and I got up at 4am today to attempt to put chains on his car so he could go to work.. yeah.. that didn’t happen and now his car is stuck on the corner of our street.. ahh what a day…

As you look at these please excuse my son’s outfit. It is one of a kind. My little rag-a-muffin.

“He’s a Mama’s boy, but NOT a Sissy boy” - Daddy

This quote from Wes says it all about our boy. He is such a Mama’s boy. I cannot do anything without this kid by my side, or wanting to know where I am going. One thing is for sure though, he is one tuff kid.  It is hard to believe he will be two at the end of this month. I catch myself just staring at him throughout the day wondering how I kept him alive this long and also wondering where he get all of his energy. His personality grows with each minute of each day and he is quite the character.  He is pretty fond of his dad too, and is constantly trying to be like him and help him fix things around the house.  When this kid falls, he doesn’t even cry, he laughs. He will have blood running from a body part, look up at me and say “ mama.. owie” and the continue doing whatever his little heart desires. His dad has many, many plans for this tough kid and his mama is just sitting back in fear wondering how I am going to handle all of it.

While we were up in Big Bear Wes got some ice cream and of course Logan wanted some too. The pictures I got of him I hold dear to my heart, because I feel they sum my little man up with no words.

SonsDec09_2009 12 30_0854SonsDec09_2009 12 30_0855That would be his “what do you want” face

That is actually a pretty good “crack” picture, compared to how he normally has his diaper/pants.

SonsDec09_2009 12 30_0862I love this picture because he looks just like his dad!

And, incase you are wondering… His face is NEVER clean. I love my boy. I can’t believe he will have a sister in May whom I will love just as much!

Some of my Favorites

Can I start off by saying how happy I am that Christmas is over. This year I was just not havin it. I think Christmas has become so materialistic and that is NOT what it should be about. We should gather and celebrate the birth of Jesus and everything he did for us. Anywho, I guess I will just have to prepare myself a little more for next Christmas and also I probably should start shopping a little sooner and not wait until the week before!

Ever since Wes and I have been together we go up to the Big Bear cabin the day after Christmas and stay up there until New Years. So of course this year was no different. The only exception is Wes worked mon-wed while we were there, which he has never done before.  I was bummed that it only snowed once while we were there and it was for a brief hour.

There is a street four houses down from the cabin called Fisher Rd. Every year there is snow on it and it is a road the county doesn’t maintain so it is also the local hot spot. The first couple days I had Logan go down with Kohl because I wasn’t sure how he was going to react and I also needed Kohl to help him walk back up because I knew before hand I would NOT have the energy to keep up with those boys. Once Wes was there we put him on his own sled and the boy had a blast. As he would walk back up the hill he would yell “WEE WEE”. Logan has no fear and also a very high pain tolerance so it was a awesome to watch him go down this hill over and over again. Kohl on the other hand is just as nutty and isn’t happy unless he is going faster and bigger than everyone else around him. I was looking at our pictures from last year compared to this year and I can’t believe how much they have grown. I still can’t believe my baby will be two at the end of this month.. ahhh

So here are some of my favorites…
