Beach Boy

This last week I worked on Tuesday talked to Kalin that night and decided to leave the next morning for her house. I have been wanting to go out there for a while now, try the last year, but never got around to it. So Logan and I hit the road. She lives out in Ventura on Point Mugu Navel Base. It is so pretty out there and the weather is wonderful. It is so weird to me to be on the base though. I could never picture myself living like that, sometimes you have a spouse and home and sometimes you don't. Crazy.
Anyway Kalin and I took Logan down to the beach on Thursday and he loved it. My kid was trying to crawl into the ocean. I think I have a water baby on my hands that has NO fear. So of course I let him play in the sand and eat it. Sadly he likes the taste of sand. mmmm!

This is when we first got there. He was just staring at the water. Oh and we saw a pod of dolphins too!

This last one was Kalin's way to keep Logan busy while I was getting ready. This worked until he turned the sink on! Good one Kalin!!! =)

Big Bear

As some as you know we went up to our cabin in Big Bear last weekend. The week leading up to this Logan was getting 4 teeth in and he also started to get sick. We left on Thurs and Fri I was in urgent care with Logan. He had a double ear infection! Good times. The family that we up with has three girls. Natalia is five days younger than Logan, Kaeyln is 2 and Jessica is 4. Then we also had Kohl with us. So for the most part everyone was occupied. Logan and Natalia were both sick so we all had some sleepless nights but it was still nice to get away and out of everyday life. As I write this I am visting Kalin at Point Mugu navel base, the weather here is beautiful. When I got here yesterday it was 73 degrees and Kalin said this has been the hottest all week.
Logan is getting in another tooth. So now he has four on the top and two on the bottom.
Anyway I have a lot of pictures from Big Bear but here are just some of them.
Oh and note to self, when you go on the alpine slide in Big Bear PLEASE use the brake unlike my husband. If not you can fall off the track and burn your shirt into your skin. Yay! Pictures to come of that!

My snuggle Bug

As I have said before, Logan does not like to snuggle. He normally doesn't like to be held too often. But that all has changed since he is sicky poo. Wes had to remind me a couple times today that it won't last. So I am going to take it when I can get it, and suck it all up!
This was him today when I was on the computer I just was talking to him, and then he went limp, he was OUT!
Yes I know I don't have his helmet on. I can't figure that blasted thing out. Notice the red mark on his head. Yeah well that is because I had it on wrong. So tomorrow I am going to stop by, again, and Leah is going to show me how to do it. This is a weekly thing. That lady probaly thinks I'm nuts.

1st week with corky

Well we have gotten thru a week with Logan's helmet. HE has done pretty well with it. We had to go back to the doc's office so she could make some minor adjustments and he has gotten it off on his own about three times, but that isn't too bad. At times I know it kills him to have that thing on, and I know that it is uncomfortable but he has been a trooper. I know I wouldn't want to wear a helmet for 23 hours a day, would you?

As for me being ready to attack as mama bear, I haven't had to do this yet. I have almost felt the need but had to remind myself they weren't worth it. It's funny because I find that the people who stare the most, are people with infants or younger kids. Who knows. The couple people who have asked, I have just told them why. I feel maybe if I educate some of these people it might help it for the next mom. Probably not, but it makes me feel a little better.

On top of everything with Logan's helmet, he is also getting in three teeth and now how a runny nose and I think is getting sick. Last night was horrible. He feel asleep, as he did the night before, and woke up screaming and wouldn't go back to bed. He will lay there and try to breathe out of his nose, realize he can't then get mad. It is really a sad thing to watch. So I called work to call off and spoke with Ana to try and get any pointers of what more I could do with him. She suggested sitting in the recliner to get him to sleep so his nose would drain. This indeed did work, but only for an hour, I woke up with my leg asleep and not able to walk with Logan screaming, yet again!

To make a long story short, Wes woke up and took him to try and get his asleep. I think he could tell I was ready to pack a bag a run away. So he finally got him to sleep with him in the bed and I went to sleep in Kohl's bed. I awoke about two hours later to a scream, I ran into the bedroom and Logan had fallen off the bed. Holy hell. What else could happen, was all that I was thinking. So we got him to calm down AGAIN and he slept in between the two of us until about 6. Then I called my parents and begged them to come and watch him so I could sleep.

As for today he is still sicky poo with a runny nose, but I think it is just because of all the teeth he is getting. As I write this is asleep taking a nap. It has been differnt because normally he doesn't like to be help too often and would rather be on the ground playing, but as for the last few days, he wont sleep unless I am holding him. He has been a snuggle bug, which I never thought would happen. I better suck it up because I am sure it wont last long. I am really hoping this goes away before Thurs, because we are going to the cabin in Big Bear with some friends of ours.

Helmet Revealed

Well ladies and Gents... Here it is.. Logan's famous Evil Knievel helmet. We have had it now for three days and today we need to try and keep it on for six hours. Yesterday was four hrs and the day we got it was two hours. At times he acts like it is not even there and just plays like normal and then there are times he just crys and trys to pull it off himself. He has been successful twice. As a mom it is so hard to listen to your child cry. He has a cry I have never heard out of him before, it's a "why" cry and please just take this off cry. It is heart breaking to say the least. I am been a wreck the last couple days, I have to entertain him more than I ever have just to keep him occupied to forget about what is on his head. We have to go back to the doctor on Friday so she can adjust it just a little.
Besides that everything is great. He had another tooth come it. One on the bottom front. So now we have two teeth!
As a person I need to remember to let go of what I cannot change and not stress about the little things. This to shall pass and it is only to help my son in the future and not hinder his ability to grow.

Well there you have it.. Logan's cool new helmet.
Here is the medical definition of why Logan has to wear the helmet:
Plagiocephaly is a type of cephalic disorder. Plagiocephaly is a condition characterized by an asymmetrical distortion (flattening of one side) of the skull. It is a common finding at birth and may be the result of a restrictive intrauterine environment. If there is premature union of skull bones, this is more properly called craniosynostosis. The unusual head shape in plagiocephaly is caused by pressure in the womb giving a "diamond" shaped head when seen from above. In pronounced cases there may be flattening of one side of the chest as well. As the child's head grows rapidly after birth, this visible inequality nearly always gets much less marked as the first year progresses
And his was because he was in the womb funny and then layed on his back favoring one sid eof his neck.

Wondering Minds

I'm sure that some of you are wondering what Logan's head looks like and how bad it really is.. Well since he is 7 months old and always on the go it is hard to get a good picture to show you. So this is the best I could come up with.. Yes he is in the bath. It is the only confined space that he doesn't try to get away from. He truly loves his bath time.
If you look at the shape of his head from the top you can tell that it is not a circle. The left side in the back sticks out way more than the right side. Which in return makes his ears not even across his head.
Then in this one you can tell that his kinda tilts up..

Anyway.. Tomorrow we go the the apt to pick up his helmet. The doc told us we should see results within the first month.

Wish us luck.. This is going to be a fun road .. woohoo.
