Meeting an Idol.

Last week as a family we went to the off road short course races in Perris. It was the first annual Ricky Johnson Off Road Grand Prix. Too bad Ricky Johnson crashed pretty bad in practice and never made it to the main event. The whole reason why we were there was to go with our friends J and Ashley. I have know them both for a very long time. J and I grew up together and Ashley was my neighbor in Reche Canyon. Wes and J work for the same company so they met a couple years ago so it works out great to hang out with them, since everyone knows each other. Ashley's uncle Mark has a Pro 2 truck # 33. So we were all there to support him.

In case you don't know. Brian Deegan not only rides dirt bikes, he also races pro lite trucks too. It just so happens he was set up right next to Mark in the pits. So of course to Kohl's surprise this night was going to be better than he thought. Kohl started the night out rough. "He was bored" and "he was tired". Man I thought going to the races would be a little boys dream. Nope, not Kohl's. He is waay to cool for us.

Wes is the only one the likes this picture, he says its "gangsta"

So of course after a couple hours he started to lighten up and have a little fun. Especially after we bought him the "best souviour ever!" and the best part... IT WAS ONLY a dollar!! Ha ha Score!

Logan of course was loving life the whole time he was there. The kid even feel asleep durning the heat races. If you ever have been to the races you know this is strange because they are soo loud. But of course that 10min power nap was all he needed to be a happy kid.

So by now Kohl is ready to rock and in a great mood because he realizes who he is parked next to ( Brian Deegan, the coolest guy ever in an eight yr old eyes.. ... oh and those groupie girls that wouldn't leave him alone) and he is also going to be able to sit in Mark's awesome race truck. This took a while for him to warm up. Yes, he may be a crazy ADHD kid, but he has his shy moments.

Then we have the Grand Finale...... Kohl was able to take a picture with Brain Deegan. Woop Woop. Ashley and I were sitting there when I was trying to put Logan to sleep. We were laughing and watching all the little "groupies" come over and try to get a glimps of Mr. Deegan himself. Some would just stand around and stare others would try to talk to him as if they have known him for years and have him over for dinner and then some would stand around in groups like they were part of the mulisha and it wasn't odd that they were being ignored. So then Deegan goes inside his motor home and comes out with a box! This box is gold to Kohl, why, because it has free Metal Mulisha hats inside of it. I then tell Kohl it get in line ( the line of 4 other people) to get his free hat and also to have it signed. After nervously waiting there he gets up to Deegan says two words and then he is out with a smile from ear to ear!

It was a great night hanging out with old friends and Kohl meeting his idol. I would love to do it all over again!
