Road Trip to Arizona

Our little road trip to Arizona was FUN, SAD, ENTERTAINING, TIRING, but most of all GOOD FAMILY TIME.
We had to drive out yesterday to go to Richie's funeral ( Wes' friend that passed away last week). We were supposed to leave on Monday night after work, but we decided to leave early Tuesday morning. We drove straight to Tempe, well besides stopping at Target once, and then stayed with our friends Cody and Katie in Wickenburg. Then we drove home today. This was Logan's first little road trip and hate to say it but he is like his mother and does NOT like to be in the car for long periods of time. Unlike his father who wants to do a "13hr road trip, because they are fun!"... umm NO!

The memorial for Richie was very nice. When you first drove in you had to drive under the line and bucket trucks. I thought that was so neat. You normally see it with fire trucks but this was different, it was nice! During the service Logan started to get restless so I took him and stood in the grass so that I could still hear and see everything. It was very sad, but nice. It was a wonderful way to remember someone special. There was probably 600-700 people just for him. I wish I could have sat by Wes to support him through this hard time, death is never easy, for anyone. We all deal with it in our own ways, but having a loved one near you is always nice.
Being a mom with a fussy kid I got to stand in the back and watch my child eat grass for the first time. He would crawl around, turn to see if I were following him and then scream with laughter. Yes, not the most appropriate place for this, but how do you tell a nine month old to be quiet. If you know, please tell.
At the end of the service it was the saddest. They did the "last call" for Richie. For those of you who don't know, this is when the dock calls his name and number and waits for a response. They called his name and number three times and then said may you rest in peace. By this time I was fighting with my kid to stop pulling my hair and crying all by myself , to my surprise, out of no where Logan gives me a kiss ( more like a lick on my nose ) but hey it counts. Funny how sometimes they just know.

That is so amazing...what a neat gesture. I still am so sad for the family. He sounded like an amazing husband and father.
