My Old Man’s Face

My Dad! Ahh Where do I start with this guy! He is the greatest guy I know (next to my husband of course!) I wouldn’t trade him for the world. He is everything to me! One great thing about my dad is his face! You can read this guy like a book. He has a facial expression for everything! Oh, and your better off if you don’t piss him off. Good Luck! ( Love ya dad)

2009may_4140This is his “oh really?” face! And not the excited “OH REALLY” it’s more like.. ahh so that’s what you think about me in a laughing matter.  To explain: at this point in time we were all talking about his wonderful face expressions and how funny some of them are.

2009may_4139 This one? Well this one can be many different things. Sometimes this can be a pissed off face, but the expression is slighting different. This is he was probably starting to ask me what the hell I was doing. Around this time I just started snapping pictures of his face. I have a couple more expressions but these two are the only ones I was able to get to today! More for later.

Once again… Love you dad ♥

FOUR Little Pigs

Yesterday we woke up and drove to the high desert to pick up our pigs. Last time we only got three pigs, one for us, my parents and also for our friend Greg. This time we got four! Two for Wes and I, one for my parents and they have two friends who are going to go in halves on another pig. Wes and I only plan on keeping one to eat, the other we are going to raise and then sell for the meat. Working at a Seventh day Adventist hospital I have been getting a lot of slack for raising and butchering pigs. All I have to say is once you raise your own meat you will never again like the taste of store bought!  This is something I have been around my whole life. I can understand that my city folk friends think I’m cruel, but I see NOTHING wrong in it. Heck if I had more land I would grow and raise ALL my own food, so I would have to buy anything from the store.

The pig we are keeping for ourselves is the one on the left.. Chichirones!

This is what I look like after wrestling with four pigs. This is nothing compared to what I smell like. ..

Nothing like the smell of pig poop!

Memorial Day

Man, I have been trying to post something about our Memorial Day weekend all week long. I love long weekends, but for some reason this short work week threw me completely off.  So in the midst of my busyness here you have some pictures from our FANTASTIC weekend together.

We went out to Canyon Lake. Some friends of mine live out there and we had a blast. “The lake” is all Kohl could talk about. He even woke up on Tuesday morning still talking about the “awesome” time he had and what a great weekend. Needless to say, I think we all felt the same way. Great friends, great times!

AHH Peace!

Why can’t they just do this all day long until they are old enough to understand the word NO and actually help me pick up their toys?

(notice how he is sleeping… My plan is working. No more fetal position!)

Instead, I get this face when I tell him NO!

I prefer the first picture a million times over!

15mo check up at 16 months.

Yesterday Wes and I took Logan to his 15 month check up ( yes a month late). Let’s just say my boy was one wild beast yesterday that could not be tamed. Lately he is SO FULL of energy.  When I say full of energy I mean he has been acting like a maniac crazy child on drugs!  For the last week he wakes up every morning grabs his blankie and yells “DAA- DEE” throughout the whole house looking for Wes.  This also continues when I put him down for his nap. Today he yelled “DAA-DEE” for an hour before falling asleep. He has been climbing on EVERYTHING, to the point that I don’t know how to control this little monster anymore. Earlier this week, I think Sat, he was having another crazy day and trying to climb in our window seals which are about 3ft off the ground. I had tried everything to get him to stay down and to stay off of the things he shouldn’t be on. After attempting everything and being defeated each time, I had emotionally, and physically had enough!  That is when I picked up the phone and called in re-enforcements…. MY DAD! I calmly explained to him that if my child did not hurt himself first, than I was going to hurt him ( as I was crying ) My dad abruptly said, all be right there, and was here 2.5 seconds later to save the day.

Normally I can control Logan but lately I am at a loss of words and discipline for this child of mine! Nothing bothers him. A stern NO, he smiles.  A slap on the leg, he looks at you like your crazy.  How else can you teach a 15 month old toddler who is already insane? And suggestions? I'm all for it.

So yesterday was no different, but at least I wasn’t alone. The doctor was running behind, like always, and Logan was tired. As we are sitting on the doctor bed, he stands up and try's to jump off the table….. yes jump! Luckily I was paying attention and caught him.  Then he continued to head butt the wall when Wes and I stood there so he couldn’t jump. I really wish I could have cameras follow me for a day so everyone would realize how nuts he is and that I am not making this stuff up.

Anyway. My little man weights 27lbs  and is 33 inches tall.  Also, wearing 24mo – 2t clothes.

Sunday Afternoon Randomness

I have been going through everything  today in hopes of cleaning and reorganizing  our house. Mostly because I’m a pack rat and I am sick of looking at all the crap I have. But of course I got side track once I started to look at all of our pictures. So I thought I would share. Hope you are all having a wonderful, relaxing Sunday!

Great Grandma

Today after we left Kohl's school Nancy and I traveled to the desert to take Grandma some things she has needed. This worked out great because it is just another way to go home, a nice change of scenery.
I don't get to see her as often as I would like, it gets hard when you are busy and since her memory isn't the greatest, sometimes it is even hard to visit with her! When Logan was a week or so old we went to see her and to get pictures of him with her and I really haven't gotten to many since then. He is special to her because he is her ONLY great-grandchild! I took the opportunity today to take more pictures of them together since I had my camera. Pictures are something I don't think you can ever have to many of. They are something that can never be replaced, you capture a moment of time when you take a picture! Looking at these pictures now I see so much more than faces, than people. I see LOVE! Just look into her eyes. She is so full of love when she is looking at him.
Capturing something like that is priceless. It is something that cannot be explained if you didn't have the proof. It is something you have to see with your own eyes. It is something you never want to forget, and it is something you want to share with everyone!

This is Nancy's Dad; Roy Richter. He was the inventor of the Bell Helmet and also the Cragar wheel. He passed away is 1983 having heart surgery and I am so bummed I was never able to meet this amazing man.
I do find it funny that every time we see a picture of him Logan lights up and smiles like he knows him! hmm...
Photobucket
I found this picture on the internet of Roy.

I also found this written about him on Cragar.com. All I can think is WOW. Grandma was lucky to be his wife and Nancy is lucky to have called this man DAD..
Richter's big heart finally gave out in July 1983. He was 69 when he died-and perhaps the most liked and respected man ever to rise from the world of California motorsports. His two companies have split and resplit and are now owned and operated by young executives, many of whom know their founder only by reputation. But his legacy persists ... even as the little stores on Gage Avenue slowly fade in the California sun. Surely, as long as men drive fast, the names of Bell, Cragar, and Richter, will not be forgotten.

Fiesta!

Kohl had a Cinco de Mayo dance/performance today at school ( yes, on the 15Th of May. That is how Mentone does it!!) They sang and then they danced. He did an awesome job, especially since he has been worried about this thing all week. He thought he wasn't going to remember the words to the song, but he did great. And he had that dance down, didn't miss a beat!
Wes and I were going through the pictures tonight and cannot believe how big this kid is getting. He is becoming quite the young man, he is not a little boy anymore! Where does the time go? They really do grow up too fast.

Kohl in a nutshell ♥ and the kid next to him could care less!

Did you notice the flower in his hat? Well... After his performance he came up to me.. yes muah, and gave me that flower! He said it was a late birthday present! How sweet was that? He made me day and didn't even know it!
